David Shrigley - Brain Activity - Hayward Gallery

This exhibition, his first major survey in London, covers the full range of Shringley's diverse practice. Describing his output as being 'somewhere between graphic comic book art and conceptual art,' he aims to provoke surprises as much as laughter and comedy.

David Shrigley tells his stories in the simplest possible way, leaving room for the rest of us to complete the narratives ourselves. 'I try to not say too much... The story is told inside the viewer's head.' Why has the ostrich lost its head? Did it get stuck in the sand?

'Certain things happen between the conscious mind the pen. The doodly things can sometimes express the things that you can't describe intellectually.'
